Katie
is one of two off-track Thoroughbreds seized by Sonoma County Animal Care
and Control in March, 2007. She and her companion were starving. A third
companion died of starvation and colic. Due to the combined efforts of
the CHANGE Program, the Sonoma County Distict Attorney's office, and Sonoma
County Animal Control, Katie's former owner was charged
and convicted of felony animal cruelty and served time in
the county jail. |

![]() Katie spent four
months in rehabilitative foster care with a CHANGE foster barn before entering
training with a CHANGE volunteer trainer, who prepared her for adoption. Katie
was adopted by a loving couple from Ft. Collins, Colorado, where she now lives
in her forever home and is in training for hunter shows. |
